Our Housekeeping Attendants play a critical role in the health, safety and wellbeing of our residents by ensuring our infection and sanitation control measures are maintained throughout the residence.

Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, our Housekeepers are responsible for performing housekeeping tasks in an efficient manner, with due consideration for the needs and comfort of the residents.

BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum of grade 12 education required.

· Prior experience in a similar housekeeping position is preferred.

· Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in the English language.

· Attention to detail is essential in ensuring cleaning tasks are performed to standard.

· Dependable, responsible and an ability to work well with others in a team environment and independently. Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.

· Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment.

· Must be comfortable working with disinfectant and cleaning chemicals as well as hazardous materials.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Participates in and adheres to continuous quality improvement standards. Adheres to infection prevention control protocols to ensure resident safety and wellbeing. Performs daily and weekly cleaning, laundry, and vacuuming of resident suites as required in accordance with established procedures, schedules and job routines. Assists with the operations in the laundry department. Cleans all common areas according to established policies, procedures and schedules. Replenishes supplies, as required. Performs additional cleaning and sanitizing as required, in accordance with established procedures and schedules. Picks up and disposes of garbage from waste containers daily. Ensures housekeeping room, closets, equipment and carts are kept in a clean, safe and sanitary condition. Provides general assistance to residents, as required. Report any equipment or maintenance concerns within the residence to direct supervisor or designate. Completes Occupational Health and Safety audits as assigned. Maintains effective communication, both written and verbal with co-workers. Uses the appropriate lines of communication with supervisory staff. Performs other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor or designate. Complies with all corporate policies and procedures. Completes all required mandatory training/education. Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System/Globally Harmonized System. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills.
