ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:

Are you passionate about fostering connections and warm welcoming environments through unique personalized dining experiences? Under the direction of the Dining Services Manager or designate, our Host play a critical role in ensuring a positive dining experience for our residents by providing the highest quality of dining service for meals and events. Oversees planning seat arrangements and room set up during special functions and maintaining cleanliness of the country kitchen, private dining room, and dietary areas/equipment in accordance with specific standards and regulations.

BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of grade 12 education required. 
  • Prior experience in a similar host position preferred.  
  • An understanding of food service and preparation is essential.
  • Must have a valid regional safe food handler’s certificate.
  • Must have a valid regional alcohol serving certificate.   
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in the English language.
  • Dependable, responsible and an ability to work well with others in a team environment and independently. Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
  • Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership skills required.
  • A resident-oriented individual, whose visions and values align with those of residence.  
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and demonstrates a strong ability to problem solve.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in and adheres to continuous quality improvement standards.
  • Serves meals to residents and guests, as required.
  • Advises residents of allergens within daily menu items and helps to meet personal preferences.
  • Assists as necessary with the dining service (beverages, clearing of tables) to ensure a smooth, effective flow of dining service.
  • Receives and stores food supplies, as required.
  • Restocking food supplies, as required.
  • Prepare trays for room service meals.
  • Sets dining room tables, and clears the dining room of dishes, utensils, etc.
  • Maintains cleanliness in the dining areas including putting away dishes, cleaning floors/tables and coffee machine as assigned according to established cleaning procedures.
  • Supervises delivery of all dining room services.
  • Works closely with the Dining Services Manager. Communicates and provides input into Dining Room Attendant duties, performance, and organization of the dining room.
  • Responsible for ensuring cleaning schedules are carried out according to established procedures.
  • Utilizes point of sale system for guest and resident meals.
  • Committed to excellence and establishing a positive resident and guest experience.
  • Complies with infection control processes and protocols as directed, e.g. outbreak management.
  • Monitors dining room set up and cleanliness prior to meal service.
  • Oversees the flow of dining service and seats residents in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintains effective communication, both written and verbal with co-workers, residents and guests including addressing resident concerns during dining service. Uses the appropriate lines of communication with supervisory staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Dining Services Manager or delegate.
  • Complies with all corporate policies and procedures.
  • Completes all required mandatory training/education.
  • Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System/Globally Harmonized System. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills. Participates in the ongoing Fire Prevention, and Pest Control programs and any other programs as required.
