POSITION TITLE: Hospitality Attendant – Housekeeping

REPORTS TO: Health and Wellness Manager

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES

Under the direction of the Health and Wellness Manager is responsible for performing housekeeping and laundry tasks in an efficient and cooperative manner, with due consideration for residents.

BACKGROUND / QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in the English language. Needs visual acuity to ensure cleaning and laundry tasks are performed to standards. Must be physically able to perform heavy lifting and withstand long periods of standing. Some experience in a hospitality, housekeeping and/or laundry department is desirable. Possesses a pleasant, outgoing personality. Must be capable of working independently and as a team member.

  • Knowledge of WHMIS
  • Experience in housekeeping functions
  • Clear Criminal Record Check w/ Vulnerable Persons

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Housekeeping
· Performs daily and weekly cleaning of all residents’ suites and common areas, in accordance with established standards and procedures.

· Replenishes paper supplies, hand soap as required in washrooms and laundry rooms.

· Maintains housekeeping storage area, cart and equipment.

· Sanitizing of common areas and touch points

· Provides general assistance to resident as required.

· Performs safety checks

· Vacuums all carpet areas. Removes spots and stains from carpets and upholstery as required and according to established cleaning schedules. Operates carpet and floor cleaning equipment as required.

· Performs light maintenance of common areas including changing light bulbs, emptying garbages indoor/outdoor, maintaining floor integrity, testing pool water, preventative laundry machine maintenance such as emptying lint traps

· Performs cleaning as assigned, including washing walls, lights, vents, fans, appliances, inside windows, door and frames, and patios.
Laundry
· Sorts laundry according to colour and type and pretreats stains as required.

· Loads and unloads washers and dryers ensuring that proper settings are used for each type of load.

· Inspects soiled linens to determine types of repairs needed. Sets aside linen not repairable for salvage use.

· Folds linens and residents’ personal clothing. Ironing is done only if necessary.

· Ensures that laundry rooms and all equipment and carts are kept in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition.

· Ensures that there are sufficient clean dry mop heads and rags available to other departments.
General
· Participates in the Residence’s ongoing Fire Prevention, Pest control, Continuous Quality Improvement, Occupational Health and Safety, and Infection Control programs as required.

· Maintains effective communication with residents, families, staff and community members, using appropriate lines of communication.

· Handles all matters in a confidential manner.

· Committed to excellence and the establishing of a “Fabled Residence”

· Performs other duties as assigned with an exemplary standard of skill and sense of responsibility.

· Ensures Verve policies and procedures are adhered to and annual mandatory training is completed.

Job Types: Casual, Part-time

Pay: $16.84-$18.86 per hour
